Fire Grand Trine

I have a fire grand trine and I can usually spot it if someone shares this placement.

There’s the absurdity of the fire grand trine—always feeling as though there must be a way to get something done that no one has ever thought of before. There’s the urgency—wants to get rid of all of the old systems and wipe the slate clean so that something new can emerge. There’s also the nihilism—the feeling that nothing truly has meaning other than what we give it.

A grand trine signifies three placements in the same element but of different modalities. These three placements will be interested in similar things but try to do these things at a different pace. I like to tell people who have a fire grand trine that they always have a little fire, no matter what time it is.

It doesn’t always feel so spectacular to have a fire grand trine. Fire burns and to always have a state of fire is to perpetually burn. Fire grand trine people get a lot done, in bursts, but we also burn out fast. We live for change and we are restored by a little bit of chaos. We find it unsettling when the possibility of change is removed.

Fire grand trines are self sustaining in the same way that a bonfire is self sustaining but we are also self consuming in the same way that a wildfire becomes self consuming. We sometimes take our bodies for granted and we push ourselves to the max. We imagine that we are made not with flesh but with rubber. We often function almost mechanically, believing that we will always find the energy as long as we find the inspiration, even when we don’t have the resources.

Fire grand trines don’t like to think about resources. Resources are what exists to be used. We don’t like to think about not having enough energy or money or time. We believe that we will always have enough time until we start doing something. Then, we feel like we never have enough time.

The reason why fire grand trine people are nihilists is because we want to burn the world down. We don’t understand why we should not dispose of something if it is not working for the vast majority of us. When frustrated, we want to get rid of the things that cause our frustrations. If money causes us frustration, then we yearn to live without money. If time causes us frustration, we yearn to live outside of time. If energy causes us frustration, we try to get up earlier and earlier.

Grand trines are sometimes called blessings but they don’t always feel that way. Sometimes, the malefics trine. Sometimes, we have poor relationships to benefics. Sometimes, our gifts are also our wounds.

Fire grand trines are punks. We are poor stewards of things. We find it hard to build something hardy without feeling that we are somehow betraying our inner ethos. Sometimes, fire grand trines feel discontent in peace. We suspect that we do not deserve it and that there must be something that we have overlooked if things are settling around us.

It is not so easy for any grand trine person, but especially a fire grand trine, to work with other people. Fire grand trines are impatient and must learn the value of teamwork. We must learn to see our own limitations and also recognize that taking those limitations seriously is not self betrayal but self respect.

It can be hard for a fire grand trine person to respect the self. Fire grand trines, sometimes, see the body as disposable and action as the only reality. Fire grand trines move through the world fast and gleeful, shrugging when parts of themselves become tattered in their hurry. What is craved is not integrity, sometimes, but definitive change. Fire grand trines ask change to prove itself to us and, in doing so, often forget that change does not have to prove itself to anyone. Change is inevitable and yearns to be shaped.
