Mercury In Detriment

March 17, 2021, 9:12 a.m.

Mercury in detriment (that is, Mercury in Sagittarius or Pisces) is not a rational, mathematical Mercury. It’s not a Mercury that becomes an expert. It’s not a learned Mercury—it’s a naive Mercury.

Mercury in detriment doesn’t know things. Instead, what Mercury in detriment is interested in are the things that are impossible to know. This is why Mercury in detriment people ask so many fucking questions. This is (possibly) also why there are so many astrologers who have Mercury in detriment.

I tell a lot of clients that Mercury in detriment is the storyteller’s Mercury. When I say this, I don’t necessarily mean that Mercury in detriment is a writer. Often, Mercury in detriment people resist the idea of writing or are obsessed with the practice of it without being interested in the idea of it. Mercury in detriment people are not Writers. They’re storytellers who use play or jokes or science or riddles to tell their stories.

Often, Mercury in detriment is a confusing or confused Mercury. I had an English teacher who would tell us that confusion is merely what happens when you learn something for the first time. The reason why Mercury in detriment is a confused Mercury is because it can do something 100 times but it will always feel as though it is doing that thing for the very first time.

You can’t really win an argument with a Mercury in detriment person because Mercury in detriment does not argue to be right but to move something. This can be extremely irritating to people because Mercury in detriment is not concerned with the facts of the matter.

No, Mercury in detriment understands that a fact is merely a reflection created by some perspectives aligning over others. Mercury in detriment is much more interested in the game of perspective shifting than with what is already verified or not.

Mercury in detriment is not interested in communication. Mercury in detriment is interested in understanding. Understanding is an impossibility because empathy is often a crass process of making other people more like “us.” But if anyone tries to do impossible things, it’s Mercury in detriment.

Mercury in detriment is long winded but Mercury in detriment does not know that it is long winded. Mercury in detriment writes 10K words a day and feels like it is nothing because writing is how they stumble across ideas. Mercury in detriment people are quiet because they do not trust their tongues in real time, because there is always a delay in their understanding of a thing and their reframing of a thing.

Mercury in detriment people have awkward and heavy tongues. They feel that they are not clear and that they have a lack of wit in comparison to all of the smart and funny people out there.

There are differences between Mercury in Sagittarius people and Mercury in Pisces people. Mercury in Sagittarius people are either Scorpios, Sagittariuses, or Capricorns. Mercury in Pisces people are Aquariuses, Pisces, or Aries.

Mercury in Sagittarius people are either poets or inventors. They’re interested in the science fictional qualities of the Book of Morman or in converting poetic forms to scientific formulas. Mercury in Sagittarius people are antidisciplinary and undisciplined thinkers. They are not interested in excelling in a field but in establishing a new one altogether.

Mercury in Pisces people are either pornographers or monks. They’re interested in brevity and with lack. They’re interested in the things that are not said. They are never heavy handed and their stories are always trick questions. They say things very clearly to you based on what they withhold. Mercury in Pisces people work not with press releases but with secrets. This is not only the adversarial placement for Mercury, it’s also where Mercury falls or hides.

The one thing that no Mercury in detriment person will ever do is to make sense. After all, making sense is about trusting sensation—Mercury in detriment is not interested in first appearances. They stick around for the second act, the third act, and then they sneak backstage and get to know all the actors without their masks.

Don’t ever let anyone tell you that Mercury in detriment is an illogical, delusioned, and nonsensical creature. Those types of people believe in logic, which is the worst type of person out there. Believing in logic means that you have replaced your need for wonder with the most visible and obvious facts of the day. Believing in logic is a sentence—it makes you boring.

Mercury in detriment is never boring. If you are, then you might be sad. There is nothing wrong with sadness as long as you do not forget that confusion is always a part of sadness.
