Sagittarius North Node, Gemini South Node

Aug. 16, 2021, 9:20 a.m.

Most of the people I have met with Sagittarius North Node and Gemini South Node are going to be mid-millennials who are going through their first Saturn returns right now. What can I say? Most of my clients are around my own age and this nodal axis is only one year younger than me. I have a couple folks now and then who are 18 or even 36 years older but most of the people I’m seeing with Sagittarius north node are in their late twenties.

I have learned about Sagittarius north node Gemini south node through my last five years of client work through the lens of one transit—the nodal reversal that occurs with the progressed moon return at age 27. I’ve talked to people who are preparing for such a reversal, I’ve talked to folks going through it, and I’ve talked to folks who are processing the reversal through the Saturn return.

The nodal reversal is an unsettling time. It looks very different to the nodal return we have at age 18. At age 18, we are unsettled by the environment and we dig our heels in around what makes the most sense to us. At 27, we dig deep into our family histories and we uncover what unsettles us from the inside out. The progressed moon return shows us what our Saturn returns are about.

And, so, I’ve gotten to know Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people through an important time— a time of discomfort, uneasiness, and sometimes family rupture. However, the nodes don’t exist as an unchanging and perpetual reality. The nodes are always changing, through every nodal return and every nodal reversal and every nodal bending. The nodes at the time of the nodal reversal don’t define the nodes. It isn’t everything. It’s a time when you’re ready to make yourself really fucking uncomfortable but making yourself uncomfortable isn’t life. It’s just a part of it.

Assumptions about Sagittarius North Node Gemini South Node

There’s this kind of power dynamic that is implicit in the opposition of Sagittarius and Gemini. Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter or Zeus, is a teacher-father. Gemini, which is ruled by Mercury or Hermes, is a student-son. A lot of meaning within the Sagittarius and Gemini archetypes tend to be processed through symbols of teacher and student.

If you talk to a Sagittarius north node Gemini south node person, chances are that they will have some stories about the complications of being a student. They will have tales of strange and cruel teachers, of teachers without enough boundaries, and of getting sucked into cultist educational programs that start in enthusiasm and end in apathy. However, the nodes aren’t just about one area of life. They take over everything.

Stereotypes about the Sagittarius north node Gemini south node person are also our stereotypes of the student. The student is indecisive, unsure, and tries too hard to emulate instead of create. Sometimes, these stereotypes are true but not always. The student is also sometimes critical without experience, usually funnier than teachers, and can feel just as apathetic as eager about institutional approval.

What usually stands out to me about a Sagittarius north node Gemini south node person is the fear of being wrong or wronged. It’s both.

The fear of being wrong isn’t about winning a debate or about ego. If it were, it would be a lot less scary to be wrong. I meet a lot of Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people who are afraid to be wrong not because they are used to arguing about ego but because they are tired of arguing their existence. I meet a lot of Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people who are tired of having to do the work of proving that they exist.

Security Issues: Gemini South Node

I meet a lot of Gemini south node people who were told that they had to keep family secrets because the integrity of the family, the security of it, depended upon some things not said. I meet a lot of Gemini south node people who are very good at figuring out what other people want to hear from them and saying that, just to get by. I meet a lot of Gemini south node people who are frustrated and angry about having to say the thing they think people want to hear instead of what they actually think.

Gemini south node people are a cryptic bunch. They’re used to navigating spaces where their gender identity, their chronic illness, or their life experience does not exist. It takes a lot of mental maneuvering to exist when you feel, in some ways, that your existence is a lie. You end up fictionalizing, cosplaying yourself, and closing yourself off until you really only talk to three people on the internet.

The family secrets part of Gemini south node cannot be overstated enough. Sure, not all Gemini south node people have family secrets but it’s a common enough thing that I feel the need to call attention to it. If you’re a Gemini south node person who had to anticipate the needs of one or more parents by keeping secrets from them, you’re not alone.

South node in Gemini people learn that secretiveness can create temporary security. They learn how to gloss over things, how to keep things on the back burner, and how to spin a true emotion so that it lands differently based on who they are speaking to. The reason why they do this is not because they are inherently dishonest but because they are afraid that confrontation will break a relationship.

Gemini south node people are learning that they cannot control someone else’s reactions. They are learning that they cannot avoid conflict by minimizing themselves in a relationship. They are learned that real relationships involve them—the real them—and not ideas of themselves that are carefully crafted in service of the other person.

Fears: Sagittarius North Node

What Sagittarius north node hates most of all is the feeling of being preached to. They hate being told who they are and what they’re made of. They despise anyone who stands on a high pulpit saying things that they don’t really experience to the masses. They hate being taught things that they already know and they also hate being taught things that they do not know.

Again, this isn’t because Sagittarius north node people are opposed to learning! They love learning. Rather, Sagittarius north node hates being evangelized at because they love learning. They understand that being preached at is a poor way to learn.

Sagittarius north node is also incredibly afraid of saying the wrong thing precisely because they are afraid of inviting the preachers into their life. They believe that, when you say the wrong thing, that you somehow temporarily lose your rights until you are able to learn proper behavior.

This is why Sagittarius north node people often hide themselves in an intellectual niche that no one quite understands except for people in the know. Again, they try to protect themselves by being legible to as few people as possible. They rely on their mental maneuvers to buffer their relationships. They intellectualize things so that they cannot be simply wrong.

Sagittarius is Jupiter, who is Zeus. What Sagittarius north node is afraid of is not purely simplicity but a pure confrontation with power. They have spent their lives making sure that they are undecipherable and incomprehensible to power. What Sagittarius north node is afraid of is being in a condition where they might lose.

Healing and Growth

There is one word that kick starts healing and growth for Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people and that words is orientation.

The issue of keeping secrets, of shrouding yourself in riddles, and of treating secrets as sacred is not the secret keeping itself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with secret keeping and there is also nothing wrong with getting to know what someone wants you to say. Both skills are necessary for simply starting a conversation. They’re listening skills and they’re knowledge creation skills.

The issue with keeping yourself shrouded because you believe that there is no place for you in the world is that, when you communicate from a place of hopelessness, that you are constantly orienting yourself to power. When you orient yourself to power only, then what you are doing is that you are defining yourself from a place of loss. You are telling yourself that you are not enough.

Sagittarius north node Gemini south node tends to care more about the arguments that they know that they will never win than the ones where they are listened to. Arguments where they are forced to intellectualize a part of their lived experience so that they can be put down by some pseudo-intellectual are more emotionally activated than conversations with those who share or understand their lived experience.

I had a client teach me that the difference between being listened to and being understood is the difference between repetition and creating new knowledge. When you are only listened to, you rely on repetitive narratives. When you are understood, you create new knowledge with someone. Orientation and reorientation does this for Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people. When they stop orienting themselves around loss and start orienting themselves around the desire to get to know and curiosity, they thrive. They start to create new knowledge with those who understand instead of attempting to force those who will never understand to listen.

This is why relationships matter so much to Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people. They thrive when they are able to choose their relationships and when they eagerly consent, 100%, to their relationships. Many of the Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people I talk to have Jupiter in Libra. Libra is not about the person that they choose but the nature of the relationship itself.

When Sagittarius north node Gemini south node people learn how to build relationships of integrity, then they are able to figure out what honesty looks like for them. Honesty is not about stream of consciousness and it’s not about saying impactful things all of the time. It is not always about speech. Every Sagittarius north node Gemini south node person has a different definition of honesty. But it’s something that they are only able to explore when they are able to feel safe.
